Our Impact: Inspiring Derbyshire’s Children to Flourish
In 2024, 368 children from 29 Derby and Derbyshire schools experienced the joy, adventure, and freedom of a seaside holiday—many for the first time. Over 29 weeks, laughter echoed along the shores of Skegness, friendships blossomed, and confidence grew.
For these children, a break from everyday struggles wasn’t just a holiday—it was hope. It was the chance to be a child again, free from worries, full of laughter, and surrounded by new experiences. It was the belief that they mattered, that they belonged, and that the world held exciting possibilities for them too.

Children like Sarah…
When Multiple Sclerosis (MS) confined Sarah’s mum to a wheelchair, Sarah, just 11 years old, became her carer—helping with washing, dressing, cooking, and cleaning.
While Sarah loves her mum deeply, her responsibilities mean she often misses out on the carefree joys of childhood.
“As mum’s condition is a little unpredictable, some days are bad and others are really good. It’s those days when I can go out and play for a while. When I came to the Centre, it was so nice to have a break for once.”
Her holiday at the Centre gave her something precious: time to rest, to laugh, to play—to just be a child.
